Mandatory mobilization - comments from a reserve major of the National Guard of Ukraine.
A reserve major expressed his desire for most men to voluntarily join the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the country. The problem with mobilization is that it is conducted only at certain moments, rather than systematically. This can cause scandals, but the state is allowed to use mandatory mobilization. Regardless of citizens' desire to serve in the army, they have an obligation to defend their homeland.
According to Oleksiy Hetman, it is difficult to change the situation with evasion from military service in Ukraine, but it is possible to improve society's attitude towards those who evade military service by disseminating relevant information in the media.
'Today, people who evade service have become almost heroes. They are admired, and this is a problem. If a person evades service, society should have a very negative attitude towards them,'
the representative of the National Guard emphasized.
It has also become known the results of investigations into incidents involving employees of the territorial recruitment centers and social protection. According to the Ground Forces, 86% of identified scandals were false.
The previous news also reported the death of a conscript in Mykolaiv, who attempted to avoid conscription and committed suicide by jumping from a bridge.
Comments from the reserve major and the representative of the National Guard reflect a restrained view on the problem of evasion from military service in Ukraine and the necessity to strengthen patriotic education among citizens. The results of the investigations confirmed that most episodes related to mobilization are not objective. Let us remind that mandatory service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is regulated by legislation and is compulsory for men of a certain age.Read also
