Idle capacities for gasoline production at Russian refineries increased by 71%.
Increase in idle oil refinery capacities in Russia
In September 2021, the volume of gasoline process capacities at Russian oil refineries (refineries), which are stopped, increased compared to August by 12.8 thousand tons per day. This amounts to 30.9 thousand tons per day in terms of product component output, including diesel fuel - by 21.2 thousand tons per day, up to 45.4 thousand tons per day. Such data is provided by Reuters and industry sources.
The increase in idle secondary capacities of the refineries in September was due to planned preventive maintenance of the plants. In September, the idle gasoline processes amounted to 21% of the total capacity of the corresponding installations at the Russian refineries, in October it is expected to decrease to 18% of the total capacity.
The idle diesel processes in September increased to 15% of their total capacity at the Russian refineries. In October, a decrease to 14% of the total volume is expected. Despite the slight return of secondary capacities to work compared to September, fuel shortages in the market are considered unlikely given the seasonal decline in consumption, traders note.
