Putin is building up forces for war with NATO: The Telegraph reported on the 'shield' near the Alliance's borders.
Russia is increasing its military presence near the border with Finland
President of Russia Vladimir Putin is bolstering military capabilities to confront NATO, particularly near the Finnish border, reports the publication 'Wave' citing The Telegraph.
Recent data indicates that Russia is constructing new military bases and expanding its presence alongside NATO's northeastern flank, which may suggest readiness for a potential conflict. After the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine, some military units may be redeployed to this area.
“We joined NATO, so we anticipated this,” said Major General Sami Nurmi, head of strategic planning for the Finnish Defense Forces.
Defense representatives from Finland believe that the threat from Russia does indeed exist, but is not yet critical. According to their assessments, Finland has about five years to prepare for a potential increase in Moscow's military activity.
Observations show that the Russian Federation is actively expanding its military infrastructure in the northern region with the aim of securing control over Arctic resources and guarding against Ukrainian drones.
NATO's concerns and the uncertain situation
Some analysts believe that the increase in Russia's military potential is related to the Kremlin's geopolitical strategies and could have negative consequences for the Baltic region countries.
In the event of a peace agreement regarding Ukraine, Finland will make efforts to monitor the movements of Russian troops and the measures taken by Moscow. Analysts emphasize the importance of being prepared for possible repercussions of Russia's aggressive actions.
