Ukraine has received the largest direct budget assistance from the European Union since February 2022. This was reported by Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko at the meeting of the EU Council on economic and financial issues (ECOFIN) in Brussels.

From February to this Time, Ukraine has received 45 billion euros for financing priority budget expenditures. The meeting was attended by the finance and economy ministers of the EU member states, as well as representatives of EU institutions.

The meeting discussed the state of Ukraine's financial system, the implementation of Ukraine's Plan within the EU Ukraine Facility Instrument, the use of revenues from frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) Loans for Ukraine, and the sanction pressure on Russia.

During the meeting, Serhiy Marchenko thanked the European colleagues for their support, which impacts the macro-financial stability of the country.

'In 2024, EU budget assistance accounts for more than 40% of all external revenues - 16.1 billion euros. Importantly, this assistance includes 3 billion euros in grants. The remainder consists of concessional loans. The European Union continues to provide systematic support for Ukraine, including military and humanitarian assistance, as well as implementing a strict sanctions policy against Russia. Thank you for understanding the needs of Ukraine and expanding cooperation.'

In 2025, the European Union plans to provide 30.6 billion euros in budget support for Ukraine. This includes 18.1 billion euros under the G7 ERA initiative, as well as 12.5 billion euros in financial assistance from the Ukraine Facility Instrument.

The funds received will be used to meet the needs of the state budget in 2025 and 2026.
