Lukashenko announces the deployment of Oreshnik in Belarus: the missile is on duty.
According to ТСН: A missile complex 'Oreshnik' has already been deployed on the territory of Belarus, which has recently begun to perform combat duties.
This information was confirmed by the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko. He emphasized that the missile is already in the country and integrated into the national defense system.
“The 'Oreshnik' missile is in Belarus since yesterday and is entering combat duty”
Moreover, it was previously reported that new military bases are actively being built in Belarus. One of such sites was discovered near Minsk, and according to previous data from journalists, it may be used for the deployment of 'Oreshnik' ballistic missiles.
Lukashenko had also previously threatened Europe regarding 'Oreshnik', claiming that this missile is 'terrifying weapon' and urged European leaders 'not to provoke.'
Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the cruise missile 'Oreshnik' will be put into combat duty by the end of 2025.
Overall, the deployment of the 'Oreshnik' missile complex in Belarus raises concerns in the region and heightens tensions in relations between Minsk and Western Europe. Belarus demonstrates an intention to strengthen its defense capabilities, which may lead to new measures from neighboring countries. This becomes particularly relevant against the backdrop of intensified military cooperation between Belarus and Russia, which raises concerns in international circles.
