In the Spaso-Preobrazhensky church in Odessa, which was damaged as a result of massive rocket attacks by the Russian Federation, a prayer service for peace took place today. The restoration of the cathedral is ongoing, but there is still much work ahead, as the attack damaged both the building and the sanctuary, including the paintings and plaster on the walls. The destruction of the church was significant - a rocket pierced two floors, damaging the altar area and removing a wall and colonnade. The wall paintings suffered from temperature fluctuations, condensation, and the direct impact of the explosion. Despite this, worship services in the church have not ceased for a single day, and on the anniversary of the attack, the residents of Odessa prayed for peace in the half-destroyed church. The restoration of the cathedral requires serious costs and colossal efforts. Italy has already provided financial assistance and also plans to allocate funds for the restoration of other cultural heritage sites in Odessa. The repairs are ongoing, but the question of completing the work remains open due to difficulties exacerbated by the military conflict.
