Russia’s actual losses in Ukraine may be 200,000 higher than reported: new estimate revealed.
Losses among Russian occupation forces
According to UATV: The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine estimates Russian occupation troop losses at approximately 1.3 million personnel. However, according to Pavlo Lakiichuk, this number could be 200,000 higher, suggesting that official figures may not fully reflect the true scale of losses. Lakiichuk also noted that these losses include deserters, whose exact numbers are difficult to determine.
Currently, Russia’s active occupation army numbers around 1 million personnel. Total losses since 2022 may reach roughly 1.5 million, encompassing both killed and wounded soldiers as well as those who have chosen to desert.
Pavlo Lakiichuk: 'If you sum up all losses, since 2022 Russia has lost approximately 1.5 million people killed, wounded, and those who decided to desert.'
Situation on the front line
Amid the ongoing war, the front-line situation remains tense, as noted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Losses among Russian occupation forces continue to rise, raising concerns among military experts and analysts. Accurately determining the numbers remains a challenge due to desertions and other factors affecting the counts.
These figures highlight the severe toll the war is taking on the Russian military, underscoring the difficulties its armed forces face during active combat operations. Growing losses may also affect troop morale and the ability to sustain the war effort going forward. Furthermore, this information could have implications for international policy and support for Ukraine in its struggle for sovereignty.
