The total number of killed and wounded in the Russo-Ukrainian war has exceeded one million people since the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.
This was stated by NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte during a speech in Brussels, as reported by 'European Truth'.
According to the head of the Alliance, more than 10,000 casualties are recorded weekly in Ukraine from both sides of the conflict. Meanwhile, Russian losses have reached 700,000 servicemen, and the current month has become record-breaking in terms of casualties on the Russian side.
Rutte emphasized the need for NATO to switch to 'war-time thinking' and increase defense spending, as the Alliance is currently not prepared for future threats from Russia.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 43,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed, and 370,000 have been injured. At the same time, Russian losses, according to his information, amount to 198,000 dead and over 550,000 injured.
