Drone Strike on Odesa Damages Homes, Schools, and Kindergartens.
Odesa Targeted in Drone Assault
According to Novyny.live: On February 4, Russian forces launched an attack on the port city of Odesa using strike drones. The assault resulted in significant destruction of residential buildings, sparked fires, and damaged critical infrastructure. According to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa regional military administration, there were no fatalities, but two people were injured and received medical treatment without requiring hospitalization.
Extent of the Damage
The scale of the damage was substantial, with over 20 residential buildings, two kindergartens, one school, and critical infrastructure facilities sustaining damage. The destruction was recorded across three districts of the city:
- Primorskyi
- Peresypskyi
- Khadzhybeiskyi
In the aftermath, 63 rescue workers and 14 units of equipment from the State Emergency Service were deployed to conduct recovery operations.
The situation in Odesa remains difficult, with local authorities now focused on restoring the damaged structures and ensuring the safety of residents. This attack is part of an ongoing escalation of military actions in Ukraine, now in its third year. It underscores the vulnerability of civilian infrastructure in conflict zones and the critical need for enhanced civilian protection. While local authorities and emergency services continue their cleanup efforts, the scale of the destruction suggests a lengthy recovery period lies ahead.
