Drone Attack Targets Dnipro's Trolleybus Infrastructure

According to UATV: On February 7, Russian forces launched a drone strike against a trolleybus depot in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro. The attack caused significant damage to dozens of trolleybuses and administrative buildings. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties.

The assault occurred during the night of February 7, beginning around 11 p.m. on February 6. At the time of the attack, more than 30 people were present on the premises. The strike damaged 18 trolleybuses, shattering approximately 90 windows across the vehicles. Depot officials stated that roughly 20% of the trolleybuses housed at the facility were affected.

Repair Efforts and Broader Impact

Repairing the damaged vehicles is expected to take several months. 'This is one of the last trolleybuses we purchased for the city. Its windshield is damaged,' noted Oleksandr Dvornichenko. He also confirmed that '18 trolleybuses were damaged. In these 18 trolleybuses, about 90 windows were blown out.'

Ivan Vasiuchkov added that 'a significant number of trolleybuses were affected, which is about 20% of the total number in this depot.'

The trolleybuses from this depot service six city routes. Following the attack, their operation is likely to be severely disrupted due to the damage. Local authorities and depot specialists are now working on repairs to restore the city's transport network. This incident is part of a wider Russian campaign targeting Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, which has severely degraded public services.

This strike on the trolleybus depot underscores the ongoing impact of the war on Ukraine's urban infrastructure. Damaging public transport vehicles not only complicates daily life for citizens but can also negatively affect the regional economy by reducing access to transit. The authorities in Dnipro must take measures for rapid recovery to ensure the normal functioning of city transport under wartime conditions.
