Attack on Kyiv on July 2
According to Novyny.live: In the early hours of July 2, Russia launched an assault on Kyiv using drones and ballistic missiles, causing damage to residential buildings, sparking fires, and resulting in casualties. Preliminary reports indicate that Russian forces fired approximately 25 missiles at the Ukrainian capital, leading to severe repercussions.
Aftermath of the Bombardment
The immediate consequences of the strike on Kyiv have been tragic. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a medical facility was partially destroyed, leaving five healthcare workers injured. One of the victims, a paramedic, is in critical condition.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated: 'In the Shevchenkivskyi district, the building housing an ambulance substation was damaged. So far, we know of five injured individuals—medical staff and drivers from the substation.'
Fires have also broken out across the city, specifically in the Pecherskyi and Solomyanskyi districts. Reports indicate that in the Shevchenkivskyi district, a residential building was destroyed by the Russian attack. In the Holosiivskyi district, a high-rise building is ablaze, while in the Desnyanskyi district, a nine-story building suffered partial collapse, trapping some residents. In the Pecherskyi district, fires have ignited near residential buildings, and in the Solomyanskyi district, a fire has broken out next to an administrative building.
Klitschko also commented on the fire situation, noting: 'The roof of a multi-story building is burning.' These events underscore the severity of the situation in the capital and the urgent need for measures to ensure public safety. Kyiv continues to face danger, and the fallout from this attack may have long-lasting implications for city residents.
This assault is part of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which has been raging since 2014. Such bombardments highlight the persistent threat to civilians, particularly in major cities like Kyiv. The response from authorities, including the mayor's office, underscores the necessity of active efforts to protect the community and provide aid to the victims, as the situation remains critical.
