Ukraine Hit by Major Barrage: 420 Drones and 39 Rockets Injure Dozens.
Critical Infrastructure Targeted in Widespread Assault
According to UATV: On February 26, Russia launched another large-scale assault against Ukraine's critical infrastructure, firing 39 rockets and 420 drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the attack resulted in dozens of injuries, including children. This latest barrage is part of a sustained Russian campaign to degrade Ukraine's energy and logistical networks.
The strikes impacted multiple regions, with damage recorded in eight oblasts. Emergency services were deployed to the following areas:
- Chernihiv Oblast
- Zaporizhzhia Oblast
- Kharkiv Oblast
- Kirovohrad Oblast
- Vinnytsia Oblast
- Kyiv Oblast
- The capital city
Of the munitions launched, 11 were ballistic missiles. However, most of these were successfully intercepted thanks to the timely response of international partners, who had supplied missiles for Ukraine's air defense systems.
'We currently know of dozens wounded as a result of this attack, among them children,' stated Volodymyr Zelenskyy, highlighting the severe consequences of the aggression.
He further noted that support from allies helped reduce the number of successful missile strikes on intended targets, a crucial factor in safeguarding the country's security.
Ongoing Tensions in Ukraine
The situation in Ukraine remains tense as Russian attacks on critical infrastructure continue. The increasing frequency of these assaults, even amid active air defense efforts, underscores the persistent threat to the country's civilians and essential services. While international support, including the provision of air defense systems, is vital for countering these challenges, civilian casualties emphasize the severity of the crisis and the urgent need for continued diplomatic efforts to end the aggression.
