Russian Strikes Target Zaporizhzhia and Sumy, Injuring Seven Including Children.
Civilian Areas Hit in Zaporizhzhia and Sumy
According to UATV: Russian military forces struck residential districts in the Ukrainian cities of Zaporizhzhia and Sumy, wounding seven people, two of whom were children. The attack on Zaporizhzhia damaged several apartment buildings, with five structures suffering shattered windows and damaged balconies. These assaults are part of a wider pattern of strikes on civilian infrastructure that has characterized the conflict.
In a separate early morning assault, Russian aircraft targeted a residential neighborhood in Sumy, injuring three people, including two children. These incidents occurred during a broader offensive on the night of February 21, where Russian forces launched an 'Iskander-M' ballistic missile and 120 attack drones against Ukraine. Strikes were recorded at 11 different locations across the country.
Ongoing Toll on Civilians
These events underscore the protracted nature of the war and its severe impact on non-combatants. The attacks on Zaporizhzhia and Sumy highlight the continuation of hostilities that directly endanger civilian populations. Throughout the conflict, ordinary residents, especially children, have become victims of violence, threatening their lives and well-being. Such incidents continue to draw international attention to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and the urgent need for enhanced measures to protect civilians.
