Russian Strikes Hit Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa, Injuring Infant and Child.
Statement from Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs
According to UATV: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned a Russian missile and drone barrage launched on the night of February 12, describing it as an act of terror. The assault targeted three major Ukrainian cities: Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa. Among the civilian casualties were an infant and a four-year-old child, with officials confirming at least two people were wounded in the attacks. These strikes are part of a broader pattern of Russian attacks on urban centers, which have intensified in recent months.
Russian forces also struck the city of Pavlohrad. Sybiha stressed that the international community cannot ignore this Russian terror unfolding in the heart of Europe. He called for concerted efforts to compel Russia to engage seriously in diplomacy and de-escalate the conflict. These events underscore the worsening security situation and the urgent need for a robust international response to the aggression.
"Russia must be forced to take diplomacy and conflict de-escalation seriously,"
Andrii Sybiha
Ukraine's response and its appeals for international support are seen as critical steps in countering the aggression and protecting civilian lives.
Security Concerns in Europe
The overnight bombardment is part of the prolonged military escalation between Ukraine and Russia that began with Russia's initial invasion in 2014. Such attacks have heightened concerns within the international community about European security and underscore the necessity of reinvigorated diplomatic efforts to achieve a sustainable peace.
