Zelenskyy Alerts Allies: Russia to Deploy Four Drone Stations in Belarus.
New Threat Emerging from Belarus
According to UATV: Ukraine has raised alarms over Moscow's intention to set up four ground-based drone control stations inside Belarus. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has briefed international partners on this development, stressing the need for a coordinated response amid the ongoing war.
An unidentified drone incident on March 23 has further highlighted the urgency of the situation. Military expert Ihor Romanenko noted that
“Belarus is lying low, but it is technically providing targeting support for Russian drones.”This indicates that Minsk may be actively enabling Russian military operations.
Conflict Outlook
Romanenko also pointed to the likelihood of a protracted war, stating that
“He is trying to make sure the fighting continues here, so that if he is forced to suspend hostilities in Ukraine by the end of this year or next, he can resume them.”These comments underscore the severity of the threat from Belarus and the critical need for sustained international support for Ukraine as regional tensions escalate.
This situation highlights the importance of closely monitoring Russian and Belarusian military activities, as their cooperation could significantly shift the regional power balance. The increasing presence of drones and control stations in Belarus raises the prospect of new phases of escalation, requiring Ukraine and its allies to act swiftly and plan strategically to maintain security in the region.
