Ukraine Endures Major Overnight Assault: 29 Missiles and 480 Drones Launched by Russia.
Ukraine Targeted in Large-Scale Overnight Attack
According to Novyny.live: In the early hours of March 7, Russian forces launched a major assault on Ukraine, targeting energy infrastructure, railways, and residential buildings. This aggressive action resulted in civilian casualties, with people killed and wounded. The ongoing war, now in its second year, has seen a pattern of such strikes against civilian areas.
The attack involved 29 missiles, nearly half of which were ballistic, and 480 drones, the majority of which were Iranian-made 'Shahed' attack drones. Strikes were recorded across multiple Ukrainian regions, including:
- Kyiv
- Khmelnytskyi
- Chernivtsi
- Zhytomyr
- Sumy
- Odesa
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Vinnytsia
- Poltava
- Cherkasy
Particularly severe consequences were reported in Kharkiv, where a Russian missile struck a multi-story apartment building. This attack killed at least seven people and injured more than ten. Rescue workers at the scene recovered the bodies of a 9-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl from the rubble.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the aftermath of the attack, stating: 'There must be a response from our partners to these brutal strikes against life.'
This large-scale missile and drone barrage provides further evidence of the escalating conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Attacks on civilian infrastructure, especially residential buildings, raise serious concerns internationally as they violate fundamental principles of humanity and safety. The international community's response to these actions could prove decisive for the future course of the war.
