Russia exaggerates control over Ukraine: real figures of seized territories.
According to inkorr.com: The Russian side tries to convince the world that it controls more territory in Ukraine than it actually does. According to research by the Institute for the Study of War, the Russian Ministry of Defense claims to have seized 4714 square kilometers of territory and 205 settlements. However, the actual figure is only about 3434 square kilometers.
Experts from the Institute for the Study of War point out that such exaggeration of combat results is used by the Kremlin to support the propaganda narrative of an 'inevitable victory' and attempts to convince the West of achieving military goals.
According to information from the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate, Russia uses the tactic of demonstrating control over various settlements before negotiations, even if this does not reflect reality. They send 'flag bearers' to establish the flag and take photos to enhance their image.
Russian disinformation on the front
A representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine criticized a video from the Russian General Staff, in which Odesa and Mykolaiv regions were marked as Russian territory, calling it an example of a disinformation campaign and a symbolic gesture.
The Kremlin seeks to create the impression of significant achievements on the front in Ukraine, but in reality, control over the territory is less than they claim. This is used to manipulate information and shape a propaganda image of a winner.
Such actions indicate that Russia is trying to maintain its position in the information war. The tactics of disinformation and exaggeration of achievements are intended not only to boost the morale of their troops but also to influence public opinion in the world, contributing to the deepening division in the international community.
