Destruction of the lyceum in Chuhuiv

According to inkorr.com: On the night of October 11 to 12, the Russian army blew up the local lyceum in Chuhuiv, as reported by the city mayor Halyna Minaieva.

“Lyceum No. 2, which was built for us by the state and which was supposed to be ready by the end of the year, has been the most damaged,” the city mayor noted.

According to the platform “Prozorro,” the cost of repairing the lyceum is about 200 million UAH. In 2023, repairs were started at the expense of the regional budget as part of the regional recovery and development program. The tender for the work was won by the company LLC “Promtex,” which received a contract for 235 million UAH, but later an additional agreement was made that reduced the cost.

As a result, the repair cost decreased to 180 million UAH. However, the company was still ordered to perform work worth 14 million UAH, which raised the total cost of repairs to over 194 million UAH. In addition, the Starosaltivska village council signed an agreement to build a shelter on the territory of the lyceum worth 145.21 million UAH.

The city mayor noted that the destruction of the lyceum has led to significant material losses, and repair work has already begun with funding from the local budget under the guidance of LLC “Promtex.”

This situation illustrates the serious consequences of the war for educational institutions. The destruction of the lyceum in Chuhuiv is yet another confirmation of how the conflict affects the development of regions and opportunities for youth education. The restoration of educational institutions is a priority task for local authorities, especially in wartime conditions. Therefore, in the near future they will try to swiftly address issues regarding restoration to provide children with a place for learning and development.
