Residential District in Zaporizhzhia Targeted in Attack
According to UATV: Russian forces attacked a residential neighborhood in Zaporizhzhia using a strike drone. The incident occurred around 9 p.m., resulting in significant damage. The blast wave shattered windows in several multi-story apartment buildings and damaged parked cars.
The drone landed on the road just three meters from a parked car, causing the vehicle to burst into flames. Emergency services are currently working at the scene. The attack has been classified as a war crime, and a criminal investigation has been opened.
Local Residents React
Local residents reacted to the event with alarm. A Zaporizhzhia resident named Volodymyr recounted:
“I had just left the kitchen when it happened. A bang — and that was it.”He also noted that only windows were damaged:
“A small window. Only the lintel was damaged. I have five-liter canisters of water and the windows were open.”Volodymyr added that window damage is visible from the third to the sixth entrance of the building: “Starting from this window, I see, this is our third entrance. From the third to the sixth — a lot of damage.”
The attack on Zaporizhzhia has sparked outrage among local residents, who are concerned for their safety at home. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the incident.
This event is part of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, where civilians are frequently caught in the crossfire of military actions. Such strikes on residential areas highlight the dangers faced by non-combatants and raise serious concerns for their security. The city of Zaporizhzhia, located near the front lines, has repeatedly been a target for attacks since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
