Six Dead and 90 Wounded as Russian Forces Strike 74 Settlements in Kharkiv Region.
Kharkiv Region Under Fire
According to Novyny.live: Over the past week, Russian troops launched massive attacks across Kharkiv Oblast, hitting 74 populated areas. The assault left six people dead—including five rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES)—and 90 others injured. The city of Kharkiv itself was among the targets. This escalation marks one of the heaviest bombardments in the region in recent weeks.
Among the wounded are 16 children. In the Bohodukhiv district, 8 apartment buildings and 32 private homes sustained damage. The attacks employed a wide array of weaponry, including:
- 3 missiles
- 36 guided aerial bombs
- 43 Shahed-type drones (Geran-2)
Regional Situation
Between June 15 and June 21, the city of Kharkiv endured 20 aerial strikes. Air raid sirens sounded for just over 95 hours. SES units located and neutralized 397 explosive devices. A total of 1,665 combat engagements with enemy forces were recorded.
The situation in the region remains critical, with relentless shelling causing widespread destruction. Emergency crews continue to clear debris and secure civilian areas. The heavy toll on infrastructure and the high number of casualties highlight the urgent need for sustained international humanitarian support.
These events underscore the ongoing escalation of the conflict in Ukraine, particularly in Kharkiv Oblast, where entire communities face severe devastation. Affected civilians—especially children—require immediate aid, while rescue services bear a heavy burden in managing the aftermath. The situation reinforces the need for continued global assistance and relief efforts to aid recovery.
Deteriorating security conditions could also influence domestic and foreign policy dynamics within Ukraine.
