Civilian Infrastructure Targeted in Southern Odesa Region
According to UATV: On June 1, the Russian army struck civilian infrastructure in southern Odesa Oblast, damaging a hospital's maternity ward and administrative buildings. The attack shattered the facade, doors, and over 30 windows of the medical facility. At the time of the strike, six women were giving birth in the ward, with one actively in labor. Officials confirmed that neither patients nor staff suffered injuries.
Strikes Across Multiple Regions
Additional attacks hit civilian sites in Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kharkiv Oblasts. Cleanup and recovery operations are underway, according to Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, which remains under control.
This incident highlights the ongoing dangers faced by civilian infrastructure in Ukraine amid the military conflict. Targeting hospitals and medical facilities constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law, which protects civilians during wartime. The events in Odesa Oblast, combined with strikes in other regions, underscore the continued escalation of the conflict and its profound impact on daily life for Ukrainians.
