Belarus Receives Russian ‘Oreshnik’ Missile System: 54 Railcars of Equipment Arrive at Airbase.
Deployment of Russian Missile System in Belarus
According to UATV: A Russian missile system known as 'Oreshnik' has been stationed at the former 'Krichev-6' airbase in Belarus’s Mogilev Region. According to opposition sources, a military train recently arrived at the site, consisting of 54 flatbed railcars and 7 covered wagons. The train reportedly departed from the Kapustin Yar station in Russia’s Volgograd Region. The flatbeds carried military hardware, while the covered wagons contained equipment and a separate car transported ammunition.
As of mid-May 2026, the deployed personnel and equipment had not left the military facility. An unidentified source stated, 'This is the only military train we have recorded arriving directly at the Krichev-6 infrastructure site. As of mid-May 2026, the delivered contingent has not left the facility, and no return shipment of equipment or supplies has been observed.'
Ukraine’s Concerns and Lukashenko’s Confirmation
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko confirmed the deployment of the Oreshnik system in his country, stating, 'The installation’s deployment is part of the close military cooperation between Minsk and Moscow.' This development has raised alarm in Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, speaking in Warsaw on December 19, noted, 'We had previously warned European and American partners about Russia’s intentions to place this system in Belarus and demonstrated its potential range.'
The placement of this Russian military system in Belarus underscores the deepening strategic military partnership between Minsk and Moscow. This collaboration not only worries Ukraine but also poses potential security risks for neighboring countries, which could find themselves within reach of new military capabilities stationed nearby.
