Two Women Killed, Six Wounded in Kramatorsk as Russian Forces Strike with Smerch Rockets.
Deadly Attack on Kramatorsk
According to UATV: On June 19, the Russian military targeted a residential district of Kramatorsk, killing two women and wounding six others. The assault employed a Smerch multiple rocket launcher system. The strike hit several civilian sites:
- a car repair shop
- an auto market
- a public transport stop
The scene left local residents in shock. One eyewitness recounted: 'We drove from the market and went to get coffee. Just as we reached the entrance, we heard the first explosion. It was very loud...' Another witness added: 'I heard the blast at the bus stop and saw a flash.' These accounts highlight that the attack occurred when many people were at the public transport stop, triggering widespread panic.
According to reports, the stop was crowded at the time of the explosion because a bus—route number 10—had just dropped off passengers and pulled away. This incident underscores the constant danger faced by Kramatorsk’s residents and the fact that civilian infrastructure remains vulnerable amid the ongoing conflict. The attack took place against a backdrop of sustained tension in the region, which continues to have severe consequences for the local population.
Escalating Threats in the Area
This strike is part of a broader pattern of violence in a conflict that has persisted for years, illustrating the persistent risks to civilians in the combat zone. Such events not only create humanitarian crises but also highlight the urgent need for international attention to a situation where innocent people endure violence and instability.
