Today's session of the Verkhovna Rada focuses on important issues in the anti-corruption sector. The deputies are discussing a draft law aimed at strengthening the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP). The main goal of this initiative is to implement the recommendations of international partners and increase trust in the work of anti-corruption agencies.
Some deputies have announced their intentions to leave the 'Servant of the People' faction in connection with the vote on the draft law regarding the deprivation of independence of NABU and SAP. Additionally, during the discussion of the law, conflicts arose between representatives of various political groups, leading to ambiguous situations.
In previous days, the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on law enforcement activities supported the draft law on restoring the independence of NABU and SAP. Furthermore, citizens held a rally in Kyiv to support this legislative initiative.
The draft law on restoring the independence of NABU and SAP is being considered at the session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The deputies are examining issues of anti-corruption reform and attempting to respond to the demands of international partners, to increase trust in anti-corruption agencies. Conflicts occurred among deputies during the discussion of the draft law. The Committee of the Verkhovna Rada supported this initiative, and the citizens of Kyiv expressed their support for the mentioned draft law.
