Romania Strengthens Support for Ukraine: New Bridges, Weapons, and Energy Projects.
Romanian Foreign Minister Oana-Silvia Cui arrived in Kyiv on August 7 for the first time since the outbreak of the full-scale war. As a result of this visit, Ukraine received an increase in support from the country.
This was reported by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, at a joint briefing with his colleague, as reported by a correspondent from Novyny.LIVE.
Sybiga summarized the first visit to Kyiv of his Romanian colleague Oana-Silvia Cui. According to the minister, it was a signal of solidarity and strategic partnership.
It is noted that the Romanian Foreign Minister held meetings with the President of Ukraine, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada. In addition, she visited the 'Okhmatdyt' hospital and personally familiarized herself with the consequences of Russian aggression.
The parties also agreed on:
- strengthening cooperation in the field of security, including investments in the defense industry and joint production of weapons;
- expansion of infrastructure projects — a new bridge over the Tisza, the launch of the Kyiv — Bucharest rail connection, the development of the Alexandroupolis — Odessa corridor;
- joint counteraction to hybrid threats, especially regarding the rights of national minorities;
- strengthening energy security, in particular diversifying gas supplies through the Trans-Balkan corridor.
Let us remind you, it was recently reported that Ukraine will receive assistance amounting to 430 million euros. Norway, Sweden, and Denmark will contribute to the funding of one of the first packages of military assistance to Ukraine as part of a new American initiative.
In addition, the USA will sell two packages of assistance for Ukrainian defense. This decision resulted from preliminary agreements between the presidents of the countries.
The last visit of the Romanian Foreign Minister to Kyiv emphasized the increased support for the country from allies, which will aid Ukrainian efforts in addressing the conflict in the east of the country and strengthening security in the region.
