NATO is preparing multi-billion aid for Ukraine and security guarantees

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte reported that the Alliance is preparing multi-billion aid and security guarantees for Ukraine after a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump.

He shared this information on his X social media account, stating: 'Had a great conversation with Donald Trump. The U.S. and NATO are getting stronger. NATO Allies are quickly increasing defense spending. Significant increases have been announced, and more will follow. Regarding Ukraine, Allies are preparing additional billions in aid and contributions to security guarantees,' Rutte wrote.

On the same day, it became known that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to emphasize the need for American military support to ensure peace in Ukraine during a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.

According to the Financial Times, the British Prime Minister will try to convince Trump to make it clear to Vladimir Putin that any future Russian aggression will meet resolute resistance. Starmer plans to use the negotiations to assure the American president that Europe is 'activating' and will strengthen its own defense capability, including providing ground troops to ensure peace in Ukraine.

For his part, Starmer expects 'insurance support' from the U.S. regarding European stabilizing forces in Ukraine, including air support, heavy transport aircraft, air reconnaissance, and missile systems.

Starmer is convinced that without such support, Putin will 'come for' Ukraine again. The British Prime Minister positions himself as a 'bridge' between Europe and the Trump administration, trying to prevent the tensions regarding the future of Ukraine from turning into a complete breakdown of the western alliance.

Prior to the meeting at the White House, the British Prime Minister announced an increase in the country's military spending from 2.3% to 2.5% of GDP by 2027, which constitutes an additional 6 billion pounds sterling. This move is a signal to Trump of Starmer's intention to lead the European armament program.
