Mayor Admits Misstep in Remarks on Ukraine’s Air Defenses

According to Novyny.live: Andriy Sadovyi, the mayor of Lviv, has acknowledged that his earlier comments regarding the country’s air defense forces were inappropriate. He attributed his reaction to heightened emotions and stressed the need for continued cooperation with the military. In a Telegram post on March 25, Sadovyi stated that decisions about deploying equipment and resources are made by responsible officials who “certainly know best where these are most needed.”

Attack Details and Public Backlash

On March 24, a Russian missile strike hit Lviv, injuring 32 people. Throughout March, Russian drones have been active in Ukrainian airspace. Of the 556 drones launched during attacks, only 15 reached their targets—a success rate of just 3% for the attackers.

Sadovyi also voiced his frustration, saying:

“I have a lot of questions for everyone. Our city buys drones, anti-drone systems, and everything we are asked for on a daily basis.”
His remarks drew a sharp response from Robert Brovdi, who urged the mayor to stop making emotional accusations and instead focus on constructive collaboration.

This incident highlights the critical need for clear communication between city authorities and military command, especially as threats from the aggressor persist. By admitting his earlier statements were driven by emotion, Sadovyi is attempting to reconcile public demands with the harsh realities of wartime defense. Ensuring this cooperation runs smoothly is vital for the safety of Lviv’s residents and the broader stability of the region.
