Nadia Savchenko compared two offensive operations

Former MP and military officer Nadia Savchenko compared two offensive operations: the counteroffensive in 2023 led by Valerii Zaluzhny and the Kursk operation in 2024 by Oleksandr Syrsky. In an interview on the ProUA YouTube channel, she stated that the approaches of the generals to the offensives were not the only differences, but also the attitude of Ukrainians towards the commanders-in-chief.

She first recalled the counteroffensive in 2023.

Everyone was shouting about this from every corner, Budanov was shouting about it, everyone who shouldn’t have been shouting was shouting. In other words, everyone had high hopes, everyone wore shirts with Zaluzhny's face, shouted and sang - a large brotherly grave emerged

According to Savchenko, she does not criticize the generals, as she understands how difficult it is for a commander to develop an operation. I know how hard it is to conduct it without losses, how many resources are involved: emotional, intellectual, physical, to the last breath. I cannot say that someone could have done better or not, history has not shown us that

Then Savchenko recalled the public's attitude towards Syrsky, namely that he is a cold, cruel military man from the Soviet school.

Syrsky. They just put him there. No shouting, no noise - Kursk. Where are the ovations, where are the applause, where are the shirts with Syrsky? No, nobody wears shirts with Syrsky. Today we have a hero, tomorrow what? Right: disgrace, betrayal, get out

In her opinion, the Ukrainian society will constantly lack heroes, and only the dead will be untouched.

Kursk operation successful

Recall that the operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of Russia demonstrated the ability of Ukrainian fighters to defeat numerically superior enemy forces, and forced the Russian Federation to redeploy about 50,000 invaders to the Russian region. This opinion was expressed by the commander of the consolidated unit of one of the brigades participating in the fighting in the Kursk region, Serhiy Korotkykh.

Also, the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine over part of the Kursk region prompted Russia to more frequent exchanges of prisoners of war with Ukraine.

It is worth noting that in the summer of 2023, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to achieve an important breakthrough, but in the West, few paid attention to this due to the widespread thesis that the Ukrainian counteroffensive had not achieved significant breakthroughs.
