Suspects Detained in Kyiv Terror Plot
According to Novyny.live: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) announced it had prevented a planned terrorist attack in central Kyiv, arresting two women accused of collaborating with Russian intelligence. Investigators determined the explosive device was intended to be placed under a vehicle belonging to a member of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Searches conducted in connection with the case uncovered nearly six kilograms of explosives. A GPS tracking device was also found on the military vehicle, suggesting the attack was meticulously planned.
Among those detained are an unemployed woman from the Sumy region and a former businesswoman from Sevastopol. Both have been formally notified of suspicion on charges related to treason and preparing a terrorist act. This incident highlights the urgent security measures needed in Ukraine, particularly under martial law.
SBU Operational Actions
According to reports, the SBU is also carrying out other operations to counter terrorist threats. For instance, a Russian agent was detained in Donetsk region in coordination with the Third Army Corps. Additionally, in partnership with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), a cyber-espionage campaign by Russian intelligence was exposed. These actions demonstrate the active efforts of Ukrainian security agencies to combat terrorism and espionage during the war.
The arrest of suspects in the Kyiv terror plot marks a significant step in safeguarding Ukraine's national security. Amid the ongoing conflict with Russia, such measures underscore the growing readiness of Ukrainian forces to respond to potential threats. Furthermore, increased collaboration with international partners like the FBI emphasizes the importance of a global approach to countering terrorism and espionage in today's challenging environment.
