The USA approved a defense budget of $900 billion: Ukraine will receive $800 million

According to ТСН: The United States Senate has finally passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which shapes the country's defense policy and provides funding for military programs amounting to about $900 billion. The document received support with 77 votes in favor and 20 against and was sent to President Donald Trump for signature.

As noted by CNN, an important aspect for Ukraine is the allocation of $800 million as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). This funding is planned for two years – 2026 and 2027, $400 million each year, and will be directed toward the procurement of weapons and military capabilities.

The document also includes provisions that limit the possibility of a sharp reduction in American troops in Europe—the number of troops cannot be less than 76,000. In addition, $175 million is allocated for the Baltic countries to strengthen regional security.

How much will U.S. allies in other regions of the world receive

A significant part of the budget is earmarked for supporting U.S. allies, in particular:

  • $1 billion - for Taiwan

  • $1.5 billion - for the Philippines

  • full funding is guaranteed for Israeli air defense systems Iron Dome and David’s Sling

The document also provides for a 3.8% increase in the salaries of American servicemen, as well as the repeal of outdated authorizations for the use of military force against Iraq issued in 1991 and 2002.

In addition, the NDAA restores support for programs to search for and return Ukrainian children who were illegally taken by Russia. This decision was a response to the previous cuts in funding for relevant initiatives.

Previously, the defense budget had already been approved by the U.S. House of Representatives, paving the way for its final implementation after the president's signature.

In Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law on the state budget for 2026, approved by the Verkhovna Rada. The document was supported by 257 deputies, of which only 193 were representatives of the 'mono-majority'.

The law provides for an increase in payments for educators, medical workers, and social workers. Also, parliamentarians increased the deputy fund threefold. However, funds for salary increases for the military are currently not provided in the budget.

The adoption of the NDAA and the state budget of Ukraine indicates continued support for military efforts in both countries. Special attention is paid to Ukraine's security amid the current threatening situation, particularly due to the assistance coming from the U.S. These are important steps that could significantly impact strategic stability in the region.
