The heart of the defender couldn't withstand. Let's remember Senior Lieutenant Serhii Petrina.

Every day at 9 a.m. Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Serhii Petrina.

On December 5, 2024, a defender of Ukraine from Rivne region - Senior Lieutenant Serhii Petrina passed away, the man's heart couldn't withstand the pressure. This was reported by the Rivne City Council.

Serhii was born on October 12, 1976, in Rivne. He trained as a lathe operator, but devoted most of his life to defending his homeland.

"For the first Time, Serhii volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2014. He had the call sign Quiet. He went through many hot spots, suffered a concussion... So, in 2019, he was forced to leave service," said the hero's wife, Natalia.

Open, sincere, and genuine, Serhii tried to pass on this attitude towards people, the country, and his duty to his children - sons aged 28 and 26, a seven-year-old daughter, and a 15-year-old stepson.

"Serhii was simply wonderful, with a pure heart and soul. So, when the full-scale invasion began, he found himself among volunteers again. He carried out combat missions in areas of active hostilities since 2022, but his health began to feel the strain... He suffered the first heart attack on his feet, we learned about it only in March 2022. And here again, the heart has made itself known, it simply couldn't withstand the pressure," continued his wife.

Unfortunately, 48-year-old Senior Lieutenant Serhii Petrina died on December 5, 2024.

The farewell to the defender of Ukraine took place on December 9 at Independence Square in Rivne. Serhii Petrina found eternal peace at the city's "Nove" cemetery.

We remember those who perished at the hands of Russian invaders, lighting candles of remembrance and bowing our heads in mourning during the nationwide moment of silence, honoring the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military, civilians, and children, everyone who died in the struggle against Russian occupants and as a result of attacks by enemy troops on Ukrainian cities and villages.
