During their discussion, Xi emphasized the critical need for a peace process in Ukraine that guarantees equal participation for all involved parties. In response, Chancellor Merz urged Xi to leverage China's influence to help end the fighting in Ukraine, noting that Moscow takes signals from Beijing seriously.
