Ukraine Denies Russian Capture of Novovasylyivka, Reports Enemy Losses and Retreat.

According to UATV: On May 29, Ukrainian defense forces officially rejected claims that the village of Novovasylyivka in the Kharkiv region had fallen to Russian troops. They confirmed the settlement remains under Ukrainian military control despite attempts by Russian units to break through. The assault involved personnel from the 344th and 83rd Motorized Rifle Regiments, part of the 69th Motorized Rifle Division.

During the engagement, Ukrainian forces struck the enemy's assault groups, killing four Russian soldiers and capturing one. According to Ukrainian military officials,

“the enemy’s intentions were detected in time. A combined strike was carried out against the assault groups”

Russian Activity in the Area

Between May 27 and 28, Russian forces conducted active aerial reconnaissance near Novovasylyivka. However, the 16th Army Corps reported that

“radio communication in the area is virtually nonexistent. No attempts at logistical support toward Novovasylyivka have been recorded”

Over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s defense forces reported destroying:

• 960 Russian soldiers,
• 1,750 drones,
• 28 artillery systems,
• 2 multiple rocket launchers,
• 2 air defense units.

These figures underscore the ongoing intensity of combat operations in the region and the efforts of Ukrainian troops to maintain national defense. As a result, the conflict zone remains volatile, but control over Novovasylyivka stays with Ukrainian forces.
