Wider than we imagine: Meloni warned Europe about the great threat from Russia.
Russia threatens the security of the European Union
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that Russia is a greater threat to the security of European Union countries than previously thought. She made this statement at a meeting of leaders from Italy, Sweden, Greece, and the head of the EU's foreign affairs department in Finland.
In her speech, Meloni emphasized that Russia is actively using illegal migration, cyber attacks, espionage, and information manipulation to pressure the West. She believes that the threat from Russia will not cease after the end of the war in Ukraine, as the Kremlin is waging a struggle against democracy as a whole.
Meloni called on the EU to strengthen security and bolster the borders of the Union countries. She also noted that the security of Europe includes various aspects, such as critical infrastructure, cybersecurity, and supply chains.
The Italian Prime Minister called for a new and more effective foreign policy and cooperation. She also proposes to enhance checks on those entering the EU.
