The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted the contribution of volunteers to the strength of the army

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskiy congratulated the volunteers on International Volunteer Day. He emphasized with great pride that the volunteer movement in Ukraine is one of the strongest in the world and has enormous significance for the resilience of the army.

Syrskiy expressed sincere gratitude to the volunteers for their tireless assistance in the fight against the Russian aggressor.

“It is symbolic that this date stands in the calendar next to the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Likewise, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian volunteers stood shoulder to shoulder with our soldiers at the beginning of the war in 2014. This impulse has only strengthened and scaled up to repel Russia's full-scale military aggression,” he noted.

The general emphasized that the volunteers continuously work to support the Defense Forces of Ukraine, providing them with necessary resources - from weapons and medical supplies to drones and vehicles.

“Either you are in the military, or you are for the military.” Guided by this principle, Ukrainian volunteers provide immeasurable assistance. Every soldier and every unit feels the warmth of your hands and your self-sacrifice,” Syrskiy emphasized.

According to the general, this assistance is critically important for the resilience of the Ukrainian army, which bravely repels Russia's aggression.

“I am sincerely grateful to every female and male volunteer for their work and dedication. I wish you and your families strength and health. We will win together!” Syrskiy emphasized.

December 5 is celebrated as International Volunteer Day, which was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985. Volunteers are people who work for the good of society and their country free of charge.

The volunteer movement in Ukraine began to form in the 1990s, and its rapid development coincided with 2014 when Russia started the war. In 2022, this holiday took on special significance for the country. Volunteers play an important role in supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine, organizing collections and providing the military with everything necessary - from medicines and ammunition to transport and weaponry. Their selfless work significantly eases the life of the Ukrainian army.
