Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief: Only Offensive Action Can Stop Russia.
Ukraine's Armed Forces Plan Offensive Operations
According to UATV: In a recent statement, Ukraine's Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, declared that victory cannot be achieved through defense alone, emphasizing the necessity for offensive action. He revealed that Russia's long-term strategic goals, which include the complete seizure of Ukrainian territory by 2026, remain unchanged. This assessment comes as the war enters a critical phase, with international support being vital for Ukraine's strategic options.
Syriyskyi noted that while the Russian army has paused its advance on two fronts, this does not signify a reduced threat. He pointed to intelligence indicating Russia is amassing reserves near the city of Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, a move that likely signals preparations for renewed assaults.
'Victory is impossible from a defensive posture,' stated Oleksandr Syrskyi, underscoring the imperative for proactive measures by Ukrainian forces.
He further asserted, 'Accordingly, we will conduct offensive operations,' stressing that active combat initiatives are required to defeat the aggressor and achieve ultimate victory.
Preparedness for Proactive Measures
Syriyskyi's announcement signals the readiness of Ukraine's Armed Forces to take the initiative, a shift that could alter the conflict's dynamics. Given the concentration of Russian reserves and their unchanged future plans, these offensive operations may become a pivotal stage in the struggle to regain control of Ukrainian land.
Such decisive actions by Ukraine could also influence the strategic calculations of its allies and the continuity of international support amidst the prolonged war.
