Syrsky spoke about the strategic importance of the Armed Forces operation in the Kursk region.

The operation in the Kursk region: strategic objectives

Oleksandr Syrsky, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, revealed the necessity of conducting the operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation and its strategic objectives in an interview with the French publication Le Monde.

According to Syrsky, the operation aimed to prevent a Russian offensive in several directions. 'There was no choice, this operation had to be conducted. We needed to stop the advance on Kharkiv, relieve the fronts, and prevent the opening of a new front in Sumy,' Syrsky emphasized.

He also noted that the decision to advance was made after discovering weak points in the enemy's defense, where there was a lack of troops to guard the border. This operation forced the Russians to redeploy significant forces of their best combat units to the Kursk region.

Syrsky emphasized that thanks to these actions, it was possible to reduce the offensive potential of the Russian troops and decrease the intensity of their attacks in most directions, except for Pokrovsk and Kurakhove.
