How long will the electricity outage schedules last: explanation from Ukrenergo.
The Ukrainian energy sector has been attacked by Russia again, launching 70 missiles and a hundred drones. This is the 13th massive missile and drone attack since the beginning of the year. As a result, energy facilities were damaged, forcing consumers to limit electricity use.
Ukrainian energy workers have already begun restoration work at the damaged facilities. However, recovery will take time, so electricity will be cut off on an hourly basis until the end of the day. It is worth reminding that the Ukrainian energy system has not yet fully recovered after previous attacks, so economical electricity consumption is necessary.
The Russian attack was a deliberate choice, as the Russians specifically chose Christmas Day for this attack.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukrainian defenders managed to shoot down more than half of the missiles and some of the drones.
Unfortunately, due to this missile attack, one person was killed in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Additionally, Russian enemies also shelled energy facilities at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, leading to the disconnection of one power line.
Ukraine needs 19 air defense systems to protect its energy infrastructure from further Russian bombardments.
