Death After Detention by TCC: Ombudsman Demands Immediate Investigation.
The Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets reported an increase in the number of complaints regarding unlawful actions by representatives of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers (TCC and SS) in Zakarpattia.
According to him, a Ukrainian citizen approached the Representative of the Commissioner in Zakarpattia region with a complaint about the illegal detention of her father by TCC and SS workers, which led to his death as a result of beating.
Lubinets emphasized the need for an immediate, thorough, and impartial investigation of this case. Information about the criminal offense under part 1 of Article 128 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (reckless grievous or moderately severe bodily harm) has already been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations.
To clarify all the circumstances of the case, the Commissioner sent a request to the Prosecutor General. He emphasized that if violations are found, he will demand that the responsible officials be held accountable, regardless of their ranks, grades, or positions.
