The defector from North Korea spoke about the conditions of service in the North Korean army

According to the defector Yongnam Om, North Korean soldiers live in difficult conditions and build residential buildings throughout the country. He claims that military training in the North Korean army lasts only two months a year, while the rest of the Time soldiers work in construction or perform other physical labor.

“Military training does exist, but in reality it lasts only two months a year – in winter. For the rest of the time, you are a laborer, working in construction or doing other physical work. You are not prepared for life as a soldier, you are simply a builder. I think North Korean soldiers are the weakest in the world,” Om noted.

He also added that when he joined the army, he was surprised by the appearance and condition of the soldiers, who looked more like homeless people than warriors.

“Their uniforms were so worn, old, and dirty that they looked like rags. And they were constantly hungry, just like I was. There was not enough food at all. Even the equipment and uniforms left much to be desired,” Om said.

Furthermore, he noted that North Korean military personnel do not have even basic knowledge of drones and GPS. He claims that North Korean soldiers are very vulnerable, almost like children, and have low combat skills, even the special forces who undergo inadequate training.

“All training is focused on the occupation of South Korea. The geography and terrain of the Korean Peninsula and Ukraine are like night and day. Korea is mountainous, while Ukraine is mostly flat,” Om emphasized.

According to reports, North Korean troops suffered their first losses in the Kursk region of Russia, where their forces are located. It is also worth mentioning that the number of North Korean troops stationed in Russia may increase to 100,000 soldiers. According to the GUR, military personnel are dissatisfied with the insufficient amount of food provided.
