US President Joe Biden plans to visit Germany next week.
This was reported by the German publication Spiegel, citing an unnamed official in Berlin.
According to the source, Biden's visit is already being discussed behind the scenes of the German government and security agencies. Official meetings with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz are scheduled for Friday, October 18.
The publication notes that the visit's program has been significantly reduced compared to previous plans. However, as before, it is planned that Steinmeier will award Biden the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany of a special level.
According to Spiegel, the American president's visit is most likely to be dedicated to further actions of Ukraine's Western allies and the war in the Middle East.
It should be reminded that on October 12, Biden was supposed to chair a meeting of the contact group on assistance to Ukraine – the "Ramstein" format. However, due to the approaching hurricane "Milton" to the coast of Florida, he canceled his trip to Europe. The "Ramstein" meeting was postponed indefinitely.
