According to ТСН: The New Year in Ukraine begins with frost. According to meteorologists' forecasts, the weather on January 1 will be determined by cold air masses from the north.

Where it snows

In most regions, the day will pass without significant precipitation. However, raincoats (preferably warm hoods) will be needed in some areas:

  • Western Ukraine: light snowfall is expected throughout the day.

  • East and Northeast: it will snow on New Year's Eve.

Drivers should be especially careful: there may be icy conditions on the roads in many places.

The wind will predominantly blow from the west at 5-10 m/s. Tourists in the mountains should pay attention to storm warnings: during the day, wind gusts in the Carpathians can reach 15-20 m/s.

Temperature fluctuations

Arctic air causes continuous frost throughout the country.

  • Main part of Ukraine: at night -11 to -16° frost, during the day -6 to -11° frost.

  • South and West: slightly warmer – at night -5 to -10° frost, during the day -1 to -6° frost.

Weather in Kyiv and surrounding areas

In the Kyiv region, it will be cloudy with clearings on January 1, without significant precipitation. The roads may be slippery in places.

  • In the region: at night -11 to -16° frost, during the day -6 to -11° frost.

  • In Kyiv: at night -11 to -13° frost, during the day -8 to -10° frost.
