The USA Sees the End of the War in Ukraine: Statement from Trump and Rubio.
America Supports Ukraine
According to FREEДOM: From the very beginning of the full-scale conflict, the United States has been vocal and openly supportive of Ukraine, both from Republicans and Democrats. The American Congress approved billions in aid. Not only politicians but also ordinary Americans stand in solidarity with Ukrainians, reports FREEDOM.
On the day of Ukraine's Independence Day, August 24, the U.S. State Department released a statement congratulating Ukrainians and expressing a desire to end the war.
'The United States is committed to a future for Ukraine as an independent country. We believe that achieving peace through negotiations will help preserve Ukraine's sovereignty and ensure security for many years, fostering lasting peace. On Independence Day, as you honor your country's history, the United States hopes for the further development of our partnership in economy and security for a peaceful and prosperous future for both our countries,' emphasized in the statement Senate Majority Leader Marco Rubio.
'The people of Ukraine possess an indomitable spirit, and the courage of your country inspires many. On this important day, know that the United States honors your struggle, respects your sacrifices, and believes in your future as an independent nation. It is time to end senseless killings. The United States supports negotiations for an agreement that will lead to lasting peace, which will conclude the bloodshed and protect Ukraine's sovereignty and dignity,' emphasized U.S. President Donald Trump.
From the very beginning of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the U.S. has stood by Ukraine. Since February 24, 2022, the U.S. Congress has allocated about $180 billion in aid to Ukraine, of which approximately $120 billion has already been directed to support - both military and humanitarian. The remaining funds are in the process of distribution or use.
During this time, the administration in the U.S. changed - from Democratic to Republican. President Trump now believes that it is unnecessary to freely provide weapons to Ukraine, but they can be sold with the help of Ukraine's European partners.
European heads of state, together with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, met last week at the White House in an unprecedented summit that saw an unprecedented number of leaders.
'Many countries stand by Ukraine, our people, and we all want to end this war, stop Russia, and finish this conflict,' remarked Zelensky during the meeting.
For Americans, the concept of 'independence' is key. Even in U.S. schools, students traditionally start their school day with the Pledge of Allegiance.
During Russian leader Putin's visit to Alaska, hundreds of Ukrainians in vyshyvankas took to the streets of Anchorage, expressing support for an independent Ukraine:
- 'Ukraine is an independent country. I believe that no territory should be given away';
- 'We support Ukraine, but we do not approve of our president's attitude towards Ukrainians who risk their lives.'
- 'Ukraine has been seized, but such an approach to neighbors and allies does not correspond to democracy.'
This year, Ukraine's Independence Day is officially honored in Michigan, New Mexico, and Illinois. In these states, as well as in the territory of California's Santa Clara, the entire August is recognized as Ukraine's Independence Month.
As previously reported, a number of events are planned in the European Union for Ukraine's Independence Day.
After 34 years of independence, Ukraine has undergone significant changes and continues the fight for the right to live freely (VIDEO).
Overall, the news conveys a positive attitude from the United States towards Ukraine, supporting the establishment of democracy and peace in the country amid Russian aggression.
