The USA will transfer 840 ERAM missiles to Ukraine for $825 million: what kind of weapon is this.
According to inkorr.com: Soon, Ukraine will receive 840 Eram missiles from the USA, as announced by the State Department of this country. These missiles are a combination of an aerial bomb and a cruise missile: their explosive power is 220 kg, and the maximum flight range reaches 460 km. The total value of the supply contract is $825 million, funded by Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway.
“Eram is a hybrid of an aerial bomb and a cruise missile. Most likely, the Americans have a surplus of conventional aerial bombs, so they decided - why let good go to waste, they made a super-version of a guided aerial bomb. They added wings, a navigation system (there's a possibility of operation in active electronic warfare conditions), and an engine. Regarding the effectiveness of the new missiles, judging by the currently known characteristics, they are close in maximum range to Storm Shadow, Scalp, and Taurus. The mass of the warhead, however, is twice lower. But at the same time, the cost of one Eram missile is five times less,” said military expert Oleksiy Melnyk.
Tests of the new missiles confirmed their high efficiency. In addition, Ukrainian designers are working on new cruise missiles 'Flamingo', which will be able to hit targets at distances of over 3000 km. This will add additional strength to the country's defense capabilities.
Thus, the acquisition of Eram missiles from the USA and the development of new domestic weapons indicate strengthening of Ukraine's defense potential. These steps could significantly impact regional security and enhance the country's ability to respond to modern challenges.
