U.S. to Deploy DASH Counter-Drone Systems, First Units Arriving by May's End.
The Denied Area Sprinter-Hellfire (DASH) System
According to TSN.ua: The United States has announced the deployment of the Denied Area Sprinter-Hellfire (DASH) system, a mobile counter-drone platform developed by the company V2X. This system is designed to detect, identify, and neutralize unmanned aerial vehicles. The U.S. Marine Corps plans to acquire up to 50 DASH units, with the first two systems scheduled for delivery by May 30, 2023. This deployment is part of a broader effort to counter the growing threat posed by inexpensive and widely available drone technology on the modern battlefield.
The DASH complex is a modification of the Tempest air defense missile system. The new platform will be equipped with AGM-114 Hellfire missiles, enhancing its effectiveness against drones. The remaining 48 systems are to be delivered no later than December 2023, with initial operational capability planned for Fiscal Year 2027, which begins on October 1, 2023.
