Joint Security Guarantees for Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: The United States and Europe have reached a joint agreement to provide security guarantees for Ukraine. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that these guarantees will include the deployment of a limited contingent of European troops, as well as support from the United States. On October 18, Ukraine plans to sign a comprehensive 20-point peace plan with the United States. This development marks a significant step in formalizing Western military and diplomatic support for Kyiv.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the number of contentious issues on the agenda has decreased, indicating progress in negotiations with its Western partners. The participation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is not currently anticipated in these talks.

Prospects for Diplomatic Relations

Furthermore, Andriy Sybiha, an advisor to the Ukrainian president, reported that Volodymyr Zelenskyy is prepared for direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This signals a potential opening for new forms of diplomatic engagement between Ukraine and Russia, as well as with Western allies. The ongoing conflict has made such high-level talks rare and complex.

The signing of the peace plan with the United States could also become a crucial step in stabilizing the situation in Ukraine and contribute to a further reduction of tensions in the dialogue with Russia. The decrease in the number of problematic agenda items demonstrates progress in the negotiations, which may open new prospects for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
