U.S. Calls for Peace with Ukraine

According to UATV: During a United Nations Security Council session in October 2023, the United States called on Russia to immediately conclude a peace agreement with Ukraine, reaffirming its support for Ukraine's sovereignty. U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Dan Negrea, highlighted the gravity of the situation, noting that the Russian military suffers approximately 40,000 casualties—killed and wounded—each month.

'Russia must reach an agreement. Time is not on Moscow’s side. The United States is committed to achieving a ceasefire and reaching a negotiated settlement that ends Russia’s war against Ukraine as soon as possible. Enough! It is time for an immediate ceasefire.' Dan Negrea, Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN

The conflict in Ukraine remains intense, and the war has dragged on for far too long. U.S. President Trump has also called for peace talks, stressing the urgent need to end the hostilities. Notably, in May 2023, Ukraine recorded its highest number of civilian casualties, further underscoring the imperative for a peaceful resolution.

Negrea emphasized, 'Time is not on Moscow’s side,' urging Russia to take decisive action to restore peace in the region.

This call from the United States for Russia to make peace with Ukraine at the UN Security Council highlights growing international concern over the war's duration and its toll on civilians. The high casualty figures cited by Negrea point to significant pressure on Moscow to seek a diplomatic solution. While this appeal for peace could be a crucial step toward de-escalation, its realization will require active efforts from both sides.
