Iran’s arms supply chain via Belarus and China hit by new US sanctions.
US sanctions target a weapons supply network linked to Iran
According to UATV: The United States has imposed sanctions on a network funneling weapons to Iran, with connections extending through Belarus and China. These measures apply to 13 individuals and entities that attempted to acquire arms, including portable surface-to-air missile systems. Among those designated are people from Iran, Belarus, and China, including representatives from Hong Kong.
The new US restrictions reinforce existing United Nations sanctions on Iran, which were reinstated after Tehran failed to meet its nuclear commitments. It is worth noting that in January, the US also imposed penalties on Iran for its crackdown on domestic protests.
Washington’s broader approach to Tehran
These sanctions form part of a larger US strategy to curb Iran’s military capabilities and uphold international norms on nuclear disarmament. The latest measures highlight growing American concerns over military technology cooperation among Iran, Belarus, and China—a partnership that could pose serious risks to both regional and global security.
Countries and entities targeted by the sanctions may face economic pressure that hinders their ability to engage in international deals and trade.
