Strike on the Kavkaz Port

According to TSN.ua: In the early hours of March 14, Deep-strike units from Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces (SSO) hit the Kavkaz maritime port in the town of Chushka, located on the Russian-controlled side of the Kerch Strait. Nearly 300 kilometers from the front line, this facility had been serving as a logistics hub for connections with Crimea.

The Kavkaz port holds strategic importance due to its infrastructure, which includes:

  • docking berths
  • a ferry complex
  • terminals for handling grain, oil products, and chemical cargoes

The attack disabled the railway ferry 'Slavyanin' and damaged the vessel 'Avangard.'

Strategic SSO Operations

The SSO command stated: 'Deep-strike operations target enemy facilities inside Russia. By hitting their logistics nodes, we undermine their military capabilities. The SSO continues asymmetric actions to strategically exhaust the adversary in its war against Ukraine.'

These actions are part of a broader campaign aimed at weakening the enemy’s military potential. For an English-speaking audience, it is worth noting that such strikes highlight Ukraine’s growing ability to project force deep into Russian-held territory, far beyond the immediate battle lines.

Attacks on port infrastructure demonstrate that Ukraine is persisting with tactics designed to degrade Russia’s logistical capacity—a critical factor in the overall war effort. These operations can significantly disrupt the enemy’s supply chains, potentially shifting the conflict’s balance of power. Recent patterns show an intensification of Ukrainian special operations, indicating a readiness to strike at greater distances from the front.
