Belarus Reactivates Drone Relay Stations: Escalating Risks for Ukraine.
Drone Operations and Signal Relays
According to UATV: Russian forces are reportedly leveraging relay stations located in Belarus to conduct drone strikes against Ukraine. On July 15, a guided Shahed drone struck a gas station in the city of Malyn, Zhytomyr region. The attack occurred approximately 260 kilometers from the Russian border.
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, confirmed that Belarus has reactivated one of these relay systems for Russian drones. This move has raised alarms, as it may signal an intensification of strikes on Ukrainian territory.
Serhiy 'Flash' Beskrestnov noted that 'this behavior is typical of manual drone control via camera feed.'
He further stressed the critical role of these relays in successful attacks: 'The enemy urgently needs to strike western Ukraine with Shahed drones using real-time control, but without the relays in Belarus, they cannot do so.'
Military Threats on the Rise
The use of drones and relay stations in Belarus points to an escalation of military threats facing Ukraine. In particular, increased attacks on strategic infrastructure could have severe consequences for national security. Belarus’s involvement in these operations underscores the need for continuous monitoring and countermeasures against threats from neighboring states, which may require heightened military readiness and strategic planning by Ukrainian forces.
These developments could also reshape international policy and the broader security landscape in the region.
